Medical Buddy

Programme / Service:

Medical escort service for Lions Befrienders’ beneficiaries across various services

Aim of Role:

Ensure that seniors follow through with their medical appointments while providing companionship and support to seniors to and fro home, medical appointments at hospitals or polyclinics.

Role Responsibilities:

To accompany seniors for medical appointment.
Be familiar with the medical systems.
Volunteers need to be alert (to check medication prescribed to senior is accurate and to convey prescriptions to senior or programme staff after the appointment).
Volunteers will not be required to bear the costs of transport to and fro seniors’ home and healthcare facilities.
Volunteers who drive and have their own vehicle are welcome to use their own transport for this role.

Location:

Island-wide locations. Expected to travel

Commitment Level / Frequency:

Ad-hoc basis (upon LB’s beneficiaries’ request)

Requirements & Skills

Great inter-personal skills with an approachable personality
Fluent in English and/or one Mother Tongue
