Since its inception in 2021, the Counselling Department has evolved from supporting Lions Befrienders’ community of over 13,000 vulnerable seniors into a comprehensive community mental wellness service that also supports caregivers, families, youths, working adults, and other community members.

Established to strengthen holistic community-based care through professional counselling, therapeutic interventions, psychoeducation, and preventive mental wellness programmes, the department has continued to expand its reach despite its lean manpower, with a target of engaging more than 2,000 individuals by 2027.

The department delivers individual and group counselling, caregiver support, prison reintegration programmes, suicide and depression risk assessments, life-stage planning, digital counselling, and mental wellness workshops.
