Course Title: Understanding Ageing Process through Experiential Learning

Course Overview

This 3-hour session equips the participants in the preparation and understanding of the ageing process. The training combines knowledge with the gerontologic simulation GERT suit whereby each component interacts and produces an effect which mimics the impairment of the sensomotoric skills experienced in old age. Participants will gain an in-depth consciousness towards the stigma and prejudices faced by seniors through the practical session of putting on the GERT suit. The course will also prepare the professionals working in the service sector for the planning and development of age-friendly environments and services catering for seniors.

Participants will learn about:

    • How the ageing process impacts one’s physical, emotional and mental health.
    • Prepare and manage the ageing process through experiential learning via the GERT simulation suit.
