Avid foodies who would enjoy a do-it-yourself (DIY) Popiah party can now savour this Southeastern Chinese dish and raise funds for Lions Befrienders (LB) to help combat social isolation among the seniors in our community.
From 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2018, Gim Tim Restaurant will serve a DIY Popiah dish at their various outlets: Gim Tim Pte Ltd, Imperial Court Pte Ltd and Deja Brew Pte Ltd. The sale of the DIY Popiah is via a cash voucher. Interested parties can now buy a voucher at $38 per booklet of 10 vouchers ($380), from LB or at the above-mentioned locations. To utilise the voucher, a reservation must be made two days in advance, at the preferred location. This DIY Popiah dish, good for up to 10 pax, has both the option of dine in or takeaway.
All proceeds from the DIY Popiah will be donated to LB in order to fund the programmes and services that would benefit 6,000 seniors, island wide. Through this initiative, we hope to raise $100,000 to enable the seniors under our care to continue to live meaningful and enriching lives.
Popiah began in the Fujian Province and is eaten as a snack or as an accompaniment to the main meal in Singapore. Gim Tim uses fresh Popiah skin and up to 10 types of ingredients as filling. Diners can mix and/or add the various ingredients, fold it into bite-sized portions and savour their Popiah.
