Our History
Lions Befrienders was initially set up as a joint project of the Lions Clubs of Singapore North, Serangoon Gardens and Stamford on 20 June 1994 and was first known as the Lions Befrienders Service Association of Singapore North, Serangoon Gardens and Stamford. The then Ministry of Community Development officially handed over the Befriender Programme to the Lions on 1 July 1995. Our premises at Bukit Merah View was officially opened on 22 July 1995 by the then Acting Minister of Community Development, Mr Abdullah Tarmugi. Since 3 March 2000, we are known as the Lions Befrienders Service Association ( Singapore).
Lions Befrienders has a long history in caring for and assisting the seniors to cope with the demands of daily living, enabling them to continue living in a familiar environment for as long as possible. We are also committed to enhance their quality of life by improving their living conditions and facilitating better co-ordination in the provision of community-based care and support services.
