Befriending Programme
You have heard about the statistics: in year 2030, 26% of our population will be aged (60 years and above). This is a marked increase from 9.1% in 1990, making Singapore one of the fastest ageing societies in Asia.

As our population ages, there is also an increase in the number of seniors who are living alone. Currently, there is a potential number of 12,500 lonely seniors in our midst. Some do not even hear a friendly knock on the door for months. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could visit occasionally and show that you care?

Being a Befriender simply means: stretching out your hand of friendship to someone who is waiting for it. We will provide you with the necessary training, such as teaching you how to communicate with the seniors and basic nursing care knowledge.
